At HiFi.eu we don't put away our ethousiasm for the latest KEF developments. We already talked about the revolutionary improvements to the KEF LS50 Meta, but the latest KEF LS50 Wireless II takes that a step further. KEF's LS50 Wireless II is a counselless high-performance speaker that is a true all-rounder thanks to wireless compatibility, an enhanced KEF app and extensive connectivity options.
In our opinion, at the same price you cannot build a system with separate components such as a streamer, amplifier, speakers and hi-fi cables that will deliver the same quality end result.
If you still want a step up, then you can only buy the wireless KEF LS60.
The ultimate wireless Hi-Fi speakers
.
No matter how you stream your music, LS50 Wireless II is ready for it. You can stream directly from the Spotify app with Spotify Connect. With the latest KEF Connect app, you can also stream from Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer or tune in to your favorite Internet stations or podcasts. Out-of-the-box wireless compatibility includes AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast, also connect via HDMI cable for your TV and other connections for your turntable, CD player and game console.
Whatever source you choose, LS50 Wireless II is all set to go.
When using LS50 Wireless II with Airplay2, Chromecast or Roon, you can stream simultaneously to multiple speakers in different room. So by using multiple LS50 Wireless II speakers, or, for example, by adding KEF LSX II, you have a simple and high-quality multi-room system.
Acoustic performance
KEF LS50 Wireless II will also please the seasoned audiophile. Music files up to 24 bit/384 kHz can be streamed, as well as MQA, DSD, and the speakers are Roon Ready. You can choose to connect the speakers completely wirelessly which will allow a resolution of 24 bit/96. If you use the supplied cable, or better yet use an Audioquest network cable then the highest possible quality of 24 bit/192 kHz becomes available. Despite its compact size, the KEF LS50 Wireless II has a frequency range from 45Hz. If you still wish to add more low then you can always buy the KEF KC62. This unique subwoofer is specifically designed to be added to KEF wireless speakers and, if necessary, can also be connected completely wirelessly the KEF KW-1 wireless subwoofer adaptor.
Innovative KEF technology
A truly revolutionary tool in KEF's acoustic arsenal is Metamaterial Absorption Technology ( MAT™). MAT is a high-complex maze-like structure that absorbs 99% of the sound at the rear of the driver. The elimination of unwanted distortions leads to a more pure and natural sound.
KEF engineers used advanced simulation and analysis tools to develop the 12th-generation Uni-Q. This new driver array produces less coloration, less distortion and a sound that is more transparent and alive than previously thought possible. And all this spread evenly across the room.
The performance of LS50 Wireless II is aided by KEF's unique Music Integrity Engine, a state-of-the-art collection with specially developed Digital Signal Processing algorithms optimized for the new Uni-Q with MAT driver, enabling perfectly synchronized playback. The result is undiluted and tight.
The built-in amplifiers were developed in-house at KEF. Each tweeter is driven by a 100W Class A/B amplifier that guarantees smooth and unprecedentedly detailed treble. A dedicated 280W Class D amplifier powers the mid/bass drivers, for room-filling yet controlled sound down to 108 db.
If you already own a decent hi-fi amplifier and/or streamer then you can always buy the passive KEF LS50 Meta.
