KEF LS50 Meta was developed from the legendary KEF LS50 monitor developed for KEF's 50th anniversary. Designed based on the unique 12th generation Uni-Q driver, the latest KEF LS50 Meta takes its name from the latest Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). Where LS50 was a great speaker now 10 years old, LS50 Meta offers a truly impressive improvement in sound quality with its many technological improvements.

To fully appreciate this monitor speaker, we do recommend the use of a decent hifi amplifier such as the NAD M10 combined with a good Audioquest speaker cable. If you have a classic stereo amplifier in your home such as the Rega Elicit-R then all you need to do is add a Bluesound Node streamer and you have a complete wireless hi-fi system in your home of the highest quality!

Design with attention to detail
Every aspect of LS50 Meta has been considered for better acoustics, but with attention to speaker design and engineering. This makes the KEF LS50 Meta truly uniquely designed. LS50 Meta is much more than just a user speaker. It is almost a sculpture that adds color to your life. Therefore, they are available in four finishes: Carbon Black, Titanium Grey, Mineral White and Royal Blue.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology
Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) is truly a revolutionary material in KEF's acoustic arsenal. MAT is a high-complex maze-like structure that absorbs 99% of the sound at the rear of the driver. The elimination of unwanted distortions leads to a more pure and natural sound. This compares to approximately 60% absorption in speakers using other methods. The elimination of unwanted distortion leads to a purer and more natural sound and it can be heard!

More KEF technology
We already talked about the 12th generation of the unique Uni-Q driver. LS50 Meta's diffraction-less, curved woofer is precisely shaped around the Uni-Q driver. Its smooth curved surface helps provide balanced sound transmission throughout the woofer, without interference from sharp edges that cause diffraction. The result is clearer, more precise sound.

KEF LS50 Meta's woofer is manufactured by injection molding from a Dough Moulding Compound (DMC), while interior cross bracing and Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) dampen internal vibrations. The result of such immaculate attention to detail is the lowest coloration of any speaker in its class.

By using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the port flare and flow profile of LS50 Meta's patented offset port were calculated to shift the moment at which turbulence occurs. In doing so, the flexible walls prevent the occurrence of resonance and thus coloration of the midrange. This leads to improved clarity, with exceptional depth and detail.
